There's no shortage of plays that look at the immigrant's experience in the New World.
For Starters, this past season, Manhattan Theatre Club produced "East Is East," a classic
example of a work that examines culture clash, intergenerational conflict, and traditions versus modernity.

The scene is London and the central figure is a Pakistani native married to a British woman. Their adult children are caught in the crossfire between new somewhat rootless ways and the old downright authoritarian values.

East Indian actor Ajay Mehta--he recently appeared in the Manhattan Theater Club's production of "East Is East"--is one of the few immigrant actors we interviewed who likes the unions and their rules. "The unions make the theatre world more professional and give the performing arts credibility and status that they would not have without them." he states
